It can reduce inflammatory lesions effectively when used with sulfur. Zinc helps to liquefied debris trapped deep within pores. Benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria while Bentonite, a natural clay, helps to absorb impurities and sebum in the pores. As you can see, each of these substance works differently in treating acne. A combination with sulfur will improve the effectiveness of the sulfur acne treatment in controlling acne.

You wonder why some of these products can help to reduce inflammation or redness which usually accompanied with acne. For soothing effect, the skin care manufacturers add geranium extract and tea tree leaf oil to the sulfur acne products.

Most of the sulfur acne products comes in creams, facial cleansers, masks, and soaps. They are available as either prescribed or non-prescribed over-the-counter treatment. The sulfur strength in these products range from three to six percent. The clinical strength is usually ten percent which can help to treat acne vulgaris. Some people don't like to use these products because of the strong, unpleasant smell.

Although sulfur is a natural anti-biotic and anti-fungal agent which helps to reduce pimple breakouts but not serious conditions such as acne scar, you still have to seek medical approval before you use it.
